Ultraviolet treatment. A canopy top is ultraviolet treated for two reasons. First is to provide UV-ray protection to anyone or anything under the shade. Second is to prevent degradation from the harmful UV rays.

Galvanized steel. Galvanization is a process wherein steel is dipped into melted zinc. Zinc permanently bonds to the steel due to a chemical reaction. The end result is a steel pole that will not corrode, rust or get scratched.

Ball bungees. These are very easy to install. Pull the cord through the grommet and wrap it around the galvanized steel pole. Lastly, snap the cord to the ball.

Foot pads (sold separately). Foot pads are installed to the frame legs when a tent is used in windy places. The foundation will become stronger with foot pads.

The Outdoor Canopy 12x16 Heavy Duty is serving as a sun shade for a 4Runner. . . it is intended as a permanent structure in front of the garage. When it arrived, the kit was very basic, it included all the pieces for at least a temporary shelter. Important to plan to include your own ingenuity if planning for permanent purpose. For example, I sank six 1 5/8 inch fence posts into concrete footing, then slid the canopy poles into them and secured with bolts, nuts and washers. Likewise, I drilled and secured the frame and tarp onto the poles to avoid lift off by an unexpected wind gust. Not really been tested yet by any rough weather, but it definitely reflects the sun’s rays, so is serving its primary purpose.
